• HOW LONG WILL SPSB SCHOOLS BE CLOSED?

    Under the direction of Governor John Bel Edwards, all Louisiana schools are to be closed until April 13. This is an ever changing situation, so we will keep you updated on any changes

     

    ARE SPSB SCHOOLS PROVIDING MEALS TO STUDENTS DURING SCHOOL CLOSURES?

    All offices and campuses will be closed from Friday, March 20th through Friday, March 27th for spring break. We will send more information concerning meal services to be offered after spring break.

     

    WILL SPSB STUDENTS HAVE TO MAKEUP THE DAYS MISSED DUE TO SCHOOL CLOSURES?

    At this time, the required 63,720 instructional minute requirement per year has been suspended. Therefore, we will not be required to make up days missed during our closure. 

     

    WILL SPSB GRADUATIONS CONTINUE AS PLANNED?

    Schools in Sabine Parish will resume April 13, and graduation ceremonies will continue as planned. This is an ever changing situation, so we will keep you updated on any changes

     

    IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING THAT DEALS WITH A SPECIFIC SCHOOL ACTIVITY, WHO DO I CONTACT?

    School administrative teams are at schools 9am-2pm daily. It is best to contact the school directly concerning activities. 

     

    WILL LEAP TESTS BE POSTPONED?

    The Louisiana Department of Education is providing school districts with updates to LEAP testing.  Currently, the guidance states the Spring 2020 assessment window for grades 3-8 LEAP 2025 will begin no earlier than April 27, and the high school testing window has not been adjusted.  If updates arise, we will update this information

     

    HAS THE ACT TEST THAT WAS SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 17 AND 18 BEEN CANCELED?

    The test has been postponed.  New dates have not been determined. 

     

    WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES AND/OR EXPECTATIONS CONCERNING HOME LEARNING ASSIGNMENTS SENT BY SPSB TO MY CHILD?

    WILL SPSB STUDENTS BE GIVEN ACCESS TO ELECTRONIC DEVICES?

    Dual Enrollment students that have internet access but do not have access to electronic devices such as  desktops, laptops, iPads, Kindle Fire, cell phones, etc. will have an opportunity to check out a chromebook from their home school. Devices and a checkout system will be school specific, contact your home school for information.

     

    WILL SPSB STUDENTS BE GIVEN INTERNET ACCESS?

    Because students are not allowed inside the schools, SPSB students who need Internet access, may visit the parking lot of any SPSB campus and sign into Guest_Wireless using password guestnet. This network is monitored, filtered, and throttled. However, it will provide adequate Internet speed to complete coursework.

     

    I HAVE INTERNET ACCESS, BUT I DO NOT KNOW MY CHILD’S CLEVER USERNAME & PASSWORD?

    If the student cannot remember their login info you may contact your school or email support@spsb.la (please allow 24 hours for a reply)

     

    I AM HAVING BASIC TECHNOLOGY ISSUES WITH MY DEVICE, HOW CAN I RECEIVE ASSISTANCE?

    WILL EMPLOYEES STILL BE PAID ON THE 25TH?

    All employees will be paid on March 25th and future payroll dates as usual

     

    WILL TEACHERS BE EXPECTED TO PROVIDE PRINTED MATERIAL AND ONLINE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEIR STUDENTS?

    No.  This is being handled by the Federal ProgramsDepartment. However, teachers are allowed to provide learning opportunities to their students as they see fit as long as it follows the SPSB Home Learning Guidelines
