Sabine Parish Schools wants to take this opportunity to thank all who participated in the parent survey to assist our leaders in planning for the 2020-21 school year. The needs, concerns, and voices of all stakeholders are important because they give us a better understanding in making informed decisions as we move forward.
While we had all hoped to have been starting school in the traditional manner for the 2020-2021 academic school year, that is simply not the case and the district is faced with making challenging decisions amid an ever-changing global pandemic. Let us assure you Sabine Parish Schools is committed to the task at hand. Our main goal is to get students and employees safely back in school, and to begin the process of working together to meet the educational, emotional, and social needs of our students.
With that said, we want to share with you the results of the parent survey. A total of 1,634 responses were received, representing 4300 students. Complete results can be viewed at Survey Results. Key takeaways from the survey indicate the following:
- The vast majority (74%) of parents currently plan to have their children return to school in August, while 9% remain undecided.
- (30%) prefer virtual instruction, (44%) are against virtual instruction, and (27%) were still undecided.
- A minority (35%) indicated that their student would attend if face masks were required.
- (73%) of Parents are in favor of daily temperature checks
Sabine Parish Schools is listening and shares your belief that instruction is best delivered in a daily classroom setting, yet much depends on the phase Louisiana is in when school begins. Please know we appreciate your partnership, support and patience and we will keep you updated as Sabine Parish Schools receives more information in this fluid situation.
