Louisiana Solid Waste Association Scholarship

The Louisiana Solid Waste association offers 3 scholarships in honor of Dr. Gordon P. Boutwell, Jr., William "Bill" Mollere and James "Buddy" Veuleman. These men were pioneers in the solid waste industry and an avid supporter of education.


These scholarships are available to all high school seniors planning to enter college during the fall semester of 2020. The scholarship will be awarded for full time study for one academic semester (Fall, 2020). The panel will select three high school seniors. The scholarship amount is $1000.00 per recipient and will be paid directly to the Louisiana university of choice. The funding shall be applied directly for tuition or any other associated fees for the recipient.

Louisiana Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs is supported by the U.S. Department of Education, which gives grants to states or institutions of higher learning to create partnerships with high-poverty middle or high schools. In partnership with 16 school districts, LA GEAR UP aims to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education.

Modern States Education Alliance is a non-profit dedicated to making a high quality college education free of cost and accessible to any person who seeks one. Its founding principle is that access to affordable education is fundamental to any philosophy that respects all individuals, and fundamental to the American dream.
