Strong Start Strong Year

As the new school year approaches, Sabine Parish Schools is strengthening our focus on daily attendance to give every student the best chance at success.

In alignment with the Louisiana Department of Education’s Power of Presence initiative, our updated attendance guidelines are built on one simple truth: students do better when they show up consistently—in the classroom, with their peers, and in their learning.

✅Here’s why it matters:

  • Students who attend regularly are more likely to read on grade level, pass their classes, and graduate.🎓

  • Good attendance builds responsibility, routine, and resilience.⌛

  • Every day a child is at school is a step toward a stronger future.😎

✅What’s our goal?

  • Students are considered truant if they accumulate 5 or more unexcused absences or tardies to school.

  • Let’s partner to ensure that students have no more than four unexcused absences for the year.

  • Let’s partner to ensure that when a student must miss school all parents/guardians clearly communicate with the office why the absence occurred and provide a written excuse regarding the absence.

We know families play a big role in making this happen, and we’re here to support you. If you need help, reach out to your school—we’re in this together!!!

Let’s send a clear message:
Every Day Counts and Every Student Matters!
