Educators Rising hosts a national conference to convene the network of rising educators and teacher leaders. It’s a unique opportunity for students and their teacher leaders to: Connect and learn from each other through more than 40 breakout sessions; network with other members from across the country; compete for national titles in competitive events designed to allow students to develop and showcase their teaching skills; and be inspired by keynote presentations from national education leaders. This year Sabine Parish was represented at the national conference in Washington, D.C., by twelve outstanding students who were accompanied by their Teacher Leader, Jill Britt, principal at Ebarb High School, Donya Tatum and Ashlee Bennett, club sponsor at Converse High School. The students attending were as follows: Katelen B.-Exploring Support Services (CHS), Reagan B.-Ed Rising Moment (CHS), Ashlynn S. & Brennan E.-Interactive Bulletin Board (EHS), Kyleigh H. & Ryleigh H.-Interactive Bulletin Board (EHS), Leah C. & Madelyn W.-Interactive Bulletin Board (EHS), Danika C. & Jaycee W.-Interactive Bulletin Board (EHS),Alexis O.-Lesson Planning & Delivery (NHS) and ShaeAunna Johnson-Children’s Literature (MHS).
Additionally, Sabine Parish Ed. Rising program would like to spotlight Ms. ShaeAunna “Shae” Johnson. Shae has been a dedicated member of Educators Rising for four years and is a recent graduate of Many High School. Throughout her time with the organization, she has made significant contributions and achieved remarkable success. During her time with Educators Rising, ShaeAunna applied and was selected twice as a national ambassador for the organization. Her leadership and passion for education have shone brightly as she competed and won in several national competitions. Notably, she excelled in the Educators Rising Moment, where she delivered an inspiring five-minute speech on why she wants to become an educator. Her clear and passionate communication left a lasting impression on both the audience and the panel of judges. She has also competed in the public speaking category, addressing the critical issue of the teacher shortage crisis. Her speech highlighted practical solutions and strategies for educators and administrators to address this pressing challenge, showcasing ideas on how to improve the education system. On a local level, ShaeAunna plays a pivotal role in her community. She serves as the club president for the Many High School Ed Rising chapter and is the student leader for the Sabine Parish chapter. Her involvement extends to Many Elementary, where she actively student teaches and volunteers, contributing to the educational development of younger students. This summer, ShaeAunna was honored to be named one of the Educators Rising National Student Officers. In her new role, she will serve as the vice president of communications, furthering her influence and impact within the organization on the national level. Looking ahead, ShaeAunna is set to begin her studies at Bossier Parish Community College this fall, pursuing a degree in criminal justice. Her academic journey is part of a larger plan to transfer and earn her doctorate degree in education while continuing to work. Underscoring her dedication to becoming a well-rounded and impactful educator. ShaeAunna Johnson embodies the spirit of a future educator, demonstrating unwavering commitment, leadership, and passion for the field. Her journey so far is a testament to her potential, and the educational community eagerly anticipates the positive contributions she will continue to make in the years to come.
From the Sabine Parish Educators Rising program, the ultimate goal is to grow our own future educators, coaches, school leaders, paraprofessionals, counselors, and various other vital education-based positions. All students mentioned are passionate about education, and it shows each day in their classes, as well as in these competitions. Students not only grow as future educators, but as individuals and future leaders. Congratulations to each of these young people on their accomplishments!
