Louisiana GEAR UP:
GEAR UP is a federally funded grant program that was developed to help prepare students to fulfill their postsecondary education aspirations. For GEAR UP, “college” doesn’t just mean a four-year university; it also includes community colleges, technical and trade schools, the military, and the workforce. Our goal is to help your student achieve his or her goal and to be there to provide support and assistance along the way. Through Louisiana GEAR UP, students have the opportunity to participate in summer learning programs, campus and business/industry visits, academic support, cross-curricular activities, and more! All 6th-8th grade students at Many Junior High School are Louisiana GEAR UP students.
Explorers’ Club:
The Explorers’ Club is an engaging, student-run organization that provides active peer leadership opportunities for students. Students are prepared for postsecondary success by developing their knowledge and skills in College and Career Preparation and Readiness, Academic Preparation, Leadership Development, Social and Emotional Learning, and Professional Etiquette. Members have the opportunity to develop both personal and professional goals and a plan of action for achieving those goals. The Explorers’ Club is open to All 6th-8th grade students at Many Junior High School.
