✏️ The world needs more teachers, and we are proud to offer this opportunity for high school students to earn college credits while learning valuable youth development knowledge. The classroom observation portion of the Ed Rising class allows students to see how teachers apply the same things they are learning about in class. It also helps the students see what content area and age bands they may be interested in exploring as they consider their future in education.

📝 Attention Parents! Students in Grades 5-8 will take the Innovative Assessment Program test for ELA over the next two weeks. Grade 5 will take the assessment as a field test; however, for students in Grades 6-8, the assessment will count for a portion of the student’s overall state test score. The assessment is based off of a unit from the Guidebook curriculum, which is taught in the ELA classroom. Students will also be asked to read an additional text related to the Guidebook unit and respond to questions about the new text as well. As additional Guidebook units are completed throughout the year, additional unit-based assessments will be given, and all assessments will be averaged for the student’s final score. Attendance over the next two weeks is crucial as we try to get everyone prepared and tested. A sample score report is included in this post so that you can see how students will be scored in this multi-faceted assessment.

SPSB Stakeholders, We recently joined an initiative supported by the Louisiana Department of Education to help school systems build strong strategic plans to achieve our goals. As part of that work, we are taking time this fall to gather feedback from students, teachers, staff, and families on how well we are doing as a district and how we can strengthen our plans moving forward. Your voices are essential to this effort. Therefore, I invite you to complete the linked survey. The survey will be available September 9th-23rd. I know you are very busy, and your days are long, but I hope you may be able to find the time to share your perspective. I look forward to receiving your open and honest feedback about our district. Thank you, Shane Wright Superintendent https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C2V95W6?fbclid=IwAR3soa5lClJtdvVOd3GFJEfmIlldUvogIhRunX_jUcdegm_RhkJjkI2OuZQ
