Sixth-grade students from across Sabine Parish participated in Forestry Awareness Week on September 9–10 at San Miguel Park in Zwolle. Sponsored by the Louisiana Society of American Foresters, this annual event connects students with real-world learning about Louisiana’s forests and natural resources.
Throughout the day, students rotated through hands-on learning stations covering:
Soil and water conservation
Insects and tree diseases
Fire prevention and safety
Wildlife and outdoor recreation
Tree identification
Timber harvesting and reforestation
This engaging experience helped students understand the vital role forestry plays in our environment and economy.
Sabine Parish Schools extends a special thank you to the Piney Woods Chapter of the Society of American Foresters for coordinating this outstanding educational opportunity for our students.
