On April 3rd & 4th, Sabine Parish 5th grade students participated in the Aquatic Education Clinic “Let’s Go Fishing”. The event was sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and hosted at Cypress Bend Park. During the clinic, students were able to visit a variety of stations. The stations included an area for the students to take casting lessons and enjoy fishing. Students were excited to catch several fish and even a few turtles. They learned about tackle and how to tie different types of knots. The students also listened to presentations about fish identification, invasive species, and boating safety. The students enjoyed the presentations and the hands-on activities that went along with each station. Thank you to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries as well as the Toledo Bend Lake Association volunteers for making this event possible. Unfortunately due to the weather students from PHHS, CHS, and NHS were unable to attend the clinic.
