Sixth grade students from Sabine Parish participated in Forestry Awareness Week on September 12th and 13th. The event was sponsored by the Louisiana Society of American Foresters and held at San Miguel Park in Zwolle, LA. The students were able to rotate through stations to hear presentations about soil and water, insects and tree diseases, fire prevention and safety, wildlife, recreation, tree identification, harvesting, and reforestation. A huge thank you to the Piney Woods Chapter of the Society of American Foresters for coordinating such an enjoyable learning experience for our students.
