FISHING

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries sponsored an Aquatic Education Clinic “Let's Go Fishing” on April 15-17, 2024, for the 5th grade students in Sabine Parish. The clinic was hosted at Cypress Bend Park. During the clinic, students were able to visit a variety of stations. At the stations the students participated in several hands-on activities and listened as LDWF Biologists and Agents gave presentations. The students learned how to tie different types of knots and practice their casting. They also learned how to identify various types of fish,  about invasive species and native/non-native species, and water safety. Several of the students, with the help of Toledo Bend Lake Associations volunteers, were able catch their first fish or turtle. The weather was perfect for the event and all of the teachers and students enjoyed the clinic. Thank you to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Biologist and Agents as well as the Toledo Bend Lake Association volunteers for making this event possible.
