Forestry Awareness Week

On September 10th, 2024, sixth grade students from EHS, FHS, and MJHS participated in the Forestry Awareness Program that was held at San Miguel Park in Zwolle, Louisiana. Eight stations were set up around the park where students spent 20 minutes at each station listening to speakers discuss their speciality in their respective fields and how they support the Forestry industry. The station topics consisted of information about soil and water, insects and tree diseases, fire prevention and safety, wildlife, recreation, tree identification, harvesting, and reforestation. The event was sponsored by the Louisiana Society of American Foresters. Unfortunately, students from CHS, NHS, PHHS, and ZES were unable to attend this year due to inclement weather. Thank you to the Piney Woods Chapter of the Society of  American Foresters for coordinating such an enjoyable learning experience for students.
