Sabine Parish Schools continues to build academic momentum, with the 2026
Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) results reflecting another
year of district-wide improvement and a continued commitment to student
success.
Most notably, Sabine Parish was one of only 12 Louisiana school systems to
improve proficiency in all four core subject areas: English language arts,
mathematics, science, and social studies. This achievement reflects the district's
continued focus on strengthening instruction, supporting educators, and creating
meaningful learning opportunities for every student.
Overall, the district increased its Mastery and Above rate from 32 percent to 33
percent, continuing a multi-year trend of academic growth across grades 3
through 12.
2026 LEAP Highlights
• English Language Arts increased by two percentage points to 43%.
• Mathematics increased by two percentage points to 35%.
• Science increased by one percentage point to 27%.
• Social Studies increased by one percentage point to 28%.
Three Years of Steady Growth (2023–2026)
The 2026 LEAP results represent more than a single year of progress. They
reflect three years of steady academic growth across Sabine Parish Schools. Since
2023, third-grade overall proficiency has increased from 28% to 35%, highlighted
by a 10-point gain in science. Fifth-grade proficiency has risen from 27% to 35%
through continued improvement in English language arts and mathematics,
while sixth-grade English language arts reached a new high of 40%. Eighth-grade
overall proficiency has increased for the third consecutive year, climbing from
32% to 37%. At the high school level, English II proficiency improved from 44%
to 50%, while English I increased to 48%.
“We are proud of the progress our students continue to make and grateful to
everyone who contributes to their success,” said Superintendent Shane Wright.
“While these results are encouraging, they also remind us that our work
continues. Every child deserves an outstanding education, and we remain
committed to improving opportunities and outcomes for every student we serve.”
Academic improvement is built through consistent effort, strong relationships,
and a shared commitment to helping every student succeed. Sabine Parish
Schools will continue to invest in excellent instruction, support educators, and
work alongside families and the community to ensure every child has the
opportunity to reach his or her full potential.
As we celebrate this year's progress, our focus remains unchanged:
Building a Stronger Sabine Parish, One Student at a Time.
