Mrs. Mindy Garcie’s Personal Finance class participated in mock professional interviews yesterday. They completed resumes with references and cover letters to present to their “interviewer.” Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Wyatt, and Mrs. Litton participated by interviewing the students as if they were prospective employees. It was a great experience for all involved!

In our promotion for good attendance, CHS is rewarding students for continuously showing up! For this 9-week grading period, students with perfect attendance from Kindergarten - 8th grade were put into a drawing for bikes. Six lucky (and present) students received those bikes this morning! Thirteen high school students had perfect attendance for the first nine weeks and they each received a Cirkul water bottle. All students with perfect attendance also received a special gift from Mrs. Webb. CHS is extra proud of our students for their perfect attendance. Being present pays off! We challenge you, Wildcats, to aim for perfect attendance this next nine weeks - and see what prize you may win!

Mrs. Laura Laroux’s Spanish classes had a special visitor today. Ms. Lucy Laroux came to CHS to demonstrate to students “How to Make Tamales.” CHS students had a wonderful time and are thankful to Ms. Lucy for such a fun experience!

CHS Ed. Rising had the pleasure of engaging in a visit from Mrs. Tene Leach, Director of Human Resources for Sabine Parish School Board. She graciously shared her educational career path and accomplishments with us. As well as spending time answering very professional and profound questions from our future educators.

LA GEAR UP sponsored college tours for our CHS college bound seniors today. Our Wildcats were up early this morning to board the bus at CHS. We travelled to Monroe to tour the University of Louisiana Monroe. After leaving Monroe, we stopped in Ruston to tour Louisiana Tech. We had a great day and we believe that our Wildcats are the best students ever!

Students who scored Advanced or Mastery on the 2022 Leap were treated to popcorn and a movie! We are so proud of our Wildcats!

CHS seniors will be applying to three universities and/or community colleges of their choice on Wednesday, October 5. Application fees will be paid for by LaGear Up. Be present and take advantage of this opportunity!

CHS wants to give a big shout out 7th grade Wildcat, Landon Manshack! Landon found a significant amount of money that had been dropped in the hallway and immediately turned it into the office. Wow, that’s a great example of doing the right thing!

Community Programs Day was a success at CHS. Our students are thankful to be a part of such a great community!

SPSB Stakeholders,
We recently joined an initiative supported by the Louisiana Department of Education to help school systems build strong strategic plans to achieve our goals. As part of that work, we are taking time this fall to gather feedback from students, teachers, staff, and families on how well we are doing as a district and how we can strengthen our plans moving forward.
Your voices are essential to this effort. Therefore, I invite you to complete the linked survey. The survey will be available September 9th-23rd. I know you are very busy, and your days are long, but I hope you may be able to find the time to share your perspective. I look forward to receiving your open and honest feedback about our district.
Thank you,
Shane Wright
Superintendent
